Man arraigned in Kaduna court for alleged N2.5 million visa procurement scam

Adeleke Abiodun, a 40-year-old resident of Barnawa in Kaduna State, was presented before a Kaduna Magistrate Court on Tuesday on charges related to an alleged N2.5 million visa procurement scam.

Abiodun faced accusations of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecution, represented by Inspector Chidi Leo, informed the court that the matter was reported by Hannah Kehinde at the Barnawa Police Station on May 18.

According to Leo, the defendant deceived the complainant into giving him N2.5 million, promising to procure a visa for her.

However, it was alleged that Abiodun misappropriated the funds and failed to obtain the visa as promised.

The charges against the defendant are in violation of Sections 233 and 214 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017. Abiodun pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted the defendant bail in the amount of N800,000, requiring two sureties residing within the court’s jurisdiction, each providing an equal sum.

The case was adjourned until June 27 for further proceedings.
