House of rep approves N16.8 billion refund to Borno state

The House of Representatives has granted approval for the reimbursement of over N16 billion to the Borno State Government by the Federal Government.

The reimbursement will be made through the issuance of promissory notes and bonds. The decision was reached following the consideration and adoption of a report presented by the House Committee on Aids, Loans, and Debt Management.

The committee confirmed that the capital projects listed were executed by the state government in accordance with contract specifications.

The projects, including road construction and a flyover bridge, were inspected and deemed to meet the required standards by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.

The report outlined the eligibility criteria for reimbursement and highlighted that compassionate appeals by the Borno State Government were taken into consideration.

The Federal Executive Council approved the additional reimbursement to ensure sufficient funding for the completion of ongoing projects.
