A former soldier named Mohammed Dagana was brought before the Badagry Magistrate Court in Lagos State on Tuesday, facing charges of impersonating a military officer.
The 31-year-old defendant, whose address was not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the accusation of impersonation.
According to Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, the prosecutor in the case, Dagana was apprehended on May 11 at the 243 Recce Battalion Barracks of the Nigerian Army in Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos State.

The defendant allegedly wore a military camouflage vest, fully aware that he had been discharged from the Nigerian Army.
Adeosun stated that the offense falls under Section 77 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and is punishable by law.
Magistrate T. A. Popoola granted the defendant bail in the amount of N50,000, requiring one surety of equal value. The case was adjourned until June 13 for further proceedings.
