On Monday, the popular microblogging platform Twitter took the step of removing the verification tag from the account of Nigeria’s former Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

The verification tag, which was originally intended for government officials, was no longer present on Osinbajo’s account.

It was noted that the account of the former President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), still retained its verification tag.

Twitter has not yet responded to inquiries about the reason behind the removal of the former vice president’s verification tag.

It is worth mentioning that both Osinbajo and his superior, President Buhari, handed over power to the administration of Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
