Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed that it would be “extremely weird” for him to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Obi’s stance was communicated by his aide, Tai Obasi, who also denied any plans for a demonstration ahead of the event.
Obasi refuted speculations that Obi and his followers from the Obidient movement would stage a protest near Eagle Square to express their dissatisfaction with the Federal Government’s insistence on Tinubu’s inauguration.

He clarified that Obi had no knowledge of such plans and that his followers sometimes take independent actions despite his instructions to remain calm.
When asked if Obi would attend Tinubu’s inauguration, given that political parties and their presidential candidates were reportedly sent individual invitations, Obasi stated that his principal was a humble and reasonable man who sought peace and unity in the country.
