In his inaugural address as the 18th Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu revealed that the state government requires N54 billion to settle promotion arrears spanning over seven years for civil servants.
Otu expressed his determination to restructure the inherited debt and implement a realistic budget throughout his tenure.
He emphasized his eagerness to improve the living standards of the people and outlined his strategic roadmap to guide his actions.
Otu pledged to eradicate criminality in the state, emphasizing safety, peaceful coexistence, and security as the pillars of his administration.

Otu vowed to transform the state by focusing on critical infrastructural repairs, environmental cleanliness, and enhanced security measures.
He assured that his administration would be inclusive, treating everyone equally regardless of party affiliation, belief, origin, or gender.
He mentioned plans to address the Bakassi issue by engaging the Federal Government and the international community to review judgments and find relief for the loss of Bakassi and the ceding of oil wells.
Otu acknowledged the challenges ahead but pledged to utilize his legislative experience and convictions to succeed and fulfill the collective dreams of the people.
