The ex-President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has left the Eagle Square in Abuja and is currently heading to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, as he makes his way back to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State.
Buhari’s departure occurred immediately after Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima were inaugurated as the President and Vice President respectively on Monday.
Prior to his departure, Buhari officially handed over the flags and other symbols of authority to the new president.

On Sunday, Buhari had a dinner at the State House Banquet Hall with Tinubu and other important figures.
The former Army General had consistently stated his intention to retire to his hometown and take care of his cattle after completing his tenure in office.
A Durbar ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday in Daura to commemorate Buhari’s return and welcome him back home.
