Rev. Fr. Mathias Opara, a Catholic Priest also known as Owu Ujo, has been freed after being kidnapped by gunmen in Imo State.
The abduction took place last Friday while he was traveling on the Ejemekwuru-Ogbaku road between Oguta and Mbaitoli Local Government Areas.
He had attended a funeral in Izombe community and was on his way back to Owerri when the incident occurred.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Opara was released late on Sunday night. Fortunately, he was unharmed during his captivity, although it remains unclear whether a ransom was paid for his release.
An anonymous source confirmed the news but provided limited details about the circumstances surrounding his freedom.
The police command’s spokesman, ASP Henry Okoye, verified that Opara was released due to the pressure exerted by undercover operatives.
