AIT founder, Raymond Dokpesi, passes away at 71

Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the founder of DAAR Communications, which owns Africa Independent Television and Raypower FM, has passed away at the age of 71.

He died in Abuja on Monday morning while exercising on a treadmill at his home, according to a source. The news was confirmed by his son, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr., in a statement.

Earlier in January 2023, Dokpesi made headlines when he was briefly detained by the police in the United Kingdom.

Reports had surfaced that he was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London, but the management of DAAR Communications released a statement clarifying that he had been released from custody.
