Cyprian Igwe, an undergraduate student at the University of Abuja, has been rusticated by the university authorities for organizing a meeting and urging a demonstration against the recent increase in school fees.
Igwe used the university’s WhatsApp group to call for students’ participation in protesting the fee hike, expressing concern for those unable to afford the new fees.

Upon learning of the planned protest, the university authorities accused Igwe and another student, Olamilekan Oladeru, of circulating an “inciteful press release” and issued them a rustication letter.
The letter, signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic), cited the potential disruption to academic activities and the breach of the University Matriculation Oath.
Igwe, in response, took to social media to announce his rustication and sought public support for marginalized students.
