Hollywood actress Eva Green has emerged triumphant in her legal dispute with producers and financiers whom she sued in London’s High Court.
The legal battle centered around her fee for a film project, A Patriot, which was ultimately never produced.
Green successfully sued White Lantern Film, asserting her entitlement to a million-dollar fee under the terms of their agreement, despite the film’s cancellation.
In a judgment delivered in April, Justice Michael Green ruled in Green’s favor, dismissing the counterclaim brought by White Lantern Film and lender SMC Specialty Finance.
The judge did not accept Green’s attribution of her rudeness to her “Frenchness.”

The recent court hearing addressed the actress’s estimated legal costs, which totaled nearly £1.7 million. Green’s legal team sought an interim payment of £1.4 million, while the defendants argued for £650,000.
Justice Michael Green ultimately granted an interim payment of £1.2 million and confirmed that a specialist judge would finalize the payment of the bills by White Lantern Film and SMC.
Additionally, the court ruled in favor of Green’s request for her total legal fees to be assessed on a more favorable basis.
Green had offered a settlement in which she would receive a portion of her fee, but it was not accepted.
As a result, her costs after August 2022 will be assessed on an indemnity basis, with a 10% interest rate and a one-off payment of £75,000.
The court acknowledged the defendants’ dishonest conduct and concluded that their defense was based on false evidence.
Green was not awarded costs related to the late disclosure of certain messages exchanged with her agent during the trial.
