In a swift and daring operation that lasted only three minutes, a four-man robbery gang made off with $11 million from a trader in the Oke-Sokori area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The incident took place as the victim, a Hausa trader, was returning to his base in a Toyota Venza car after an unsuccessful attempt to deposit the foreign currency in a bank.
According to the victim’s account to the police, he had visited a new generation bank at Oke-Ilewo but was turned away due to the bank’s closing hours.

As he was heading back, the masked robbers intercepted him in a tinted Toyota Camry ‘Muscle’ in front of the FATGBEMS Petroleum Filling Station at Oke-Sokori.
They forcibly stopped his car, opened the trunk, and swiftly transferred the money, which was stored in two ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bags, into their own vehicle.
Eyewitnesses described the robbers as wearing black T-shirts, jeans, facemasks, and carrying rifles. By the time police patrol teams arrived at the scene, the robbers had fled with the stolen money and the victim’s car key.
