The Supreme Court of Nigeria has ruled against the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking the disqualification of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The suit alleged double nomination of Shettima during the 2023 general election. The PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, argued that the double nominations violated the Electoral Act and sought the disqualification of Tinubu and Shettima.
The apex court held that the PDP lacked the legal standing to institute the suit since it is not a member of the APC.
The ruling party is set to proceed with the inauguration of Tinubu as the President and Shettima as the Vice President on May 29.
