Manchester United told to pay £140m for Victor Osimhen

Manchester United has been informed by Napoli that they must pay £140m to secure the signing of Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen this summer, as reported by UK tabloid The Mirror.

Manchester United had previously agreed to sign Osimhen’s Napoli teammate Kim Min-jae.

Osimhen has attracted interest from Manchester United due to his impressive performances for Napoli this season, where he currently leads the Serie A scorers chart with 23 goals.

Manchester United scouts were present during Napoli’s Champions League match against Milan last month and have identified Osimhen as their desired attacking option for the upcoming season.

While Kim’s transfer to Manchester United has been finalized with the payment of his £43m release clause, securing Osimhen’s transfer is more complicated as no such clause exists in his contract.

Napoli is reportedly open to selling him if an offer exceeding £140m is received, as they have been planning for his potential departure since last summer.

Although negotiations may be possible, Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is willing to sanction the sale if the right offer is made.
