Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), has reiterated that he has no knowledge of the alleged illegal sale of 48 million barrels of crude oil worth $2.4 billion.
Malami made this statement while appearing before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged revenue loss from the illegal sale of crude oil exports.
During his previous appearance before the committee, Malami had dismissed the allegations as baseless and without foundation.
In his recent appearance alongside the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice/Solicitor-General of the Federation, Beatrice Jedy-Agba, the minister stood by his previous submission.
Malami clarified that he had never been a member of any formal committee, and no documents were forwarded to him for consideration in his capacity as AGF regarding the alleged revenue loss.

He emphasized that without factual evidence or documents provided by the National Assembly or the executive, there was no justifiable basis to pursue the matter.
The committee chairman, Hon. Mark Gbillah, acknowledged that the allegations were not from the committee or the parliament and appreciated Malami for addressing the issue.
Gbillah requested the minister to remain available for further inquiries after his valedictory session.
Regarding assets and whistleblower recoveries, Gbillah directed Malami to provide the parliament with a statement of account details, communication with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and communication with the Ministry of Finance.
In response, Malami advised the lawmakers to seek the required information from the CBN and the Accountant General of the Federation.
He explained that the AGF’s office only possesses confirmation of receipts issued by a recovery agent from the CBN and does not maintain custody of the accounts.
