FG declares work free day to commemorate President-elect’s inauguration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that Monday, May 29, 2023, will be a public holiday, allowing all employees in the country to have a day off from work.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaib Belgore.

The purpose of this work-free day is to commemorate the inauguration of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

In the statement, Minister Aregbesola called upon Nigerians to continue supporting and upholding democracy by adhering to the rule of law.

He expressed his appreciation to all Nigerians for their faith in democracy, evident in the recent nationwide elections that led to the installation of the President and Vice President.

He emphasized that democracy is an ongoing process that requires the continuous development of democratic institutions, the promotion of a free and responsible press, and the advancement of individual freedoms.

Aregbesola encouraged Nigerians to foster peaceful coexistence and demonstrate love for their neighbors, as democracy can only thrive in a peaceful environment.
