A State High Court in Edo State, Nigeria, has dismissed the notice of suspension issued against the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, by certain party members at the ward level.
The judge, Justice Emmanuel Aihamoje, ruled that the case lacked merit. The judgment was in response to a lawsuit filed by Abure and the executives of LP Ward 3 in Esan North East, Edo State.
Justice Aihamoje determined that the ward executive in Uromi lacked the authority, according to the Labour Party Constitution, to remove the national chairman of the party.
The judge imposed a perpetual injunction against Lamidi Apapa and his faction, preventing them from removing or suspending Abure until a new national convention of the party is convened.

The LP Ward 3 Chairman expressed satisfaction with the ruling, stating that it put an end to impostors who were falsely claiming membership in the party.
The Edo State Labour Party Chairman echoed this sentiment and criticized Apapa and his faction as power-seekers.
The spokesperson for the faction led by Lamidi Apapa indicated plans for a press conference to address the ruling but had not made any public statements at the time of reporting.
