Buhari directs outgoing officials to declare assets as a measure to combat corruption

President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a directive to all outgoing elected and appointed government officials under his administration to declare their assets.

The President made this announcement during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he received his own assets declaration form from the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Prof. Isah Mohammed.

President Buhari emphasized that no one is exempt from this requirement, stating that he expects all officials, from the Vice President down, to follow suit.

He stressed the importance of adhering to the constitutional mandate of assets declaration to promote best practices, enhance moral standards in public service, and combat corruption.

The President urged all outgoing officials to collect the assets declaration forms, complete them, and return them within the stipulated timeframe.

He highlighted his personal commitment by acknowledging that he had already signed and submitted his own form, planning to review the transactions in his bank account.
