The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted raids on drug joints in Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State, resulting in the arrest of 17 suspects.
During the operations, a total of 6.2kg of drugs were confiscated, and a pistol was also recovered by the authorities.
The joint operation was conducted in collaboration with the operatives of the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The targeted drug joints were located in areas such as Obada, Lafenwa, Odo-Eran, and Adigbe.

According to Ibiba Odili, the Commander of Narcotics, NDLEA Ogun State, two suspects were caught in possession of 2.5kg of cannabis sativa (marijuana), while an additional 1.5kg of the same substance was found abandoned.
The operation also led to the discovery of a locally-made pistol with three cartridges, highlighting the dangerous nexus between drug trafficking and illicit firearms.
