The Central Bank of Nigeria has extended its eNaira sensitization campaign to women during the Law Ladies Day program at the University of Lagos.
The initiative aimed to encourage the adoption of eNaira, the country’s central bank digital currency, among women, students, law students, and other attendees at the 2023 Law Ladies’ Day event.
Aligned with the theme of the program, “Defying stereotypes: Celebrating the different shades of femininity,” the CBN used this opportunity to raise awareness among students and others on the benefits and significance of eNaira transactions and why they should utilize this digital channel.
Mary Fasheitan, the Special Adviser Payment Systems to the Governor of the CBN, emphasized the importance of eNaira, highlighting the advantages and opportunities it provides to the financial community and women.

Fasheitan stressed that it was crucial for women to embrace eNaira for transactions as it offers financial freedom, inclusivity, fast transaction times, cross-border payment options, and enhanced financial inclusion.
She described eNaira as a unique form of money denominated in Naira that serves as both a medium of exchange and a store of value.
Fasheitan underscored that eNaira has an exceptional operational structure, distinguishing it from other forms of central bank money.
Fasheitan further emphasized that the CBN was responding to the digital transformation happening worldwide by introducing cashless policies, with eNaira being one of them.
She encouraged female law students to embrace eNaira as a safe, secure, and fully digitalized means of transacting, assuring them of its reliability as one of the most secure channels provided by the apex bank.
