Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, dissolves executive council and terminates political appointments

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the dissolution of the state executive council and the termination of all political appointments in the state.

The governor has instructed all affected appointees to hand over any government properties under their custody.

The decision was communicated through a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman of the Transition and Inauguration Committee, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi.

The letter states that the dissolution and termination are effective immediately, starting from Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

It also specifies that political officeholders should officially hand over government properties to the senior civil servant in their respective departments, except for those in statutory commissions.

Governor Makinde expresses his appreciation for the contributions of the political appointees to the state’s development and wishes them success in their future endeavors.
