Adunni Ade refutes allegations of debt to late actor Murphy Afolabi

Adunni Ade, a US-born Nigerian actress, has denied allegations that she owed the late actor Murphy Afolabi N250,000 before his death.

Afolabi passed away on May 14, 2023, after slipping and falling in the bathroom. During his eight-day Muslim burial prayers, an Islamic cleric accused Adunni Ade and other Nollywood actors of owing money to Afolabi and demanded repayment.

In response to the accusation, Adunni Ade took to her Instagram account on May 23 and refuted the claim.

She stated that she had refunded the late actor N150,000, which was sent to her for a movie role in 2021. She shared a screenshot of her bank statement as evidence.

According to Adunni Ade, Afolabi approached her in July 2021 for her services in a self-funded movie production. Due to the circumstances, she refunded the money as she had to travel to the United States for her brother’s funeral.

Despite Afolabi’s intention to hire her for another project in October 2021, she respectfully declined and promptly returned the full refund of N150,000 to his bank account.
