US delegation set to attend swearing in of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president

United States President Joe Biden has dispatched a delegation to witness the swearing-in ceremony of Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria.

Tinubu’s inauguration is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Eagle Square in Abuja, marking his succession of outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari.

The White House released a statement in which President Biden expressed his intent to send a nine-person delegation, led by Marcia L. Fudge, the Secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Among the members of the U.S. delegation are David Greene, the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Honorable Sydney Kamlager-Dove, a United States Representative from California, and Honorable Marisa Lago, the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Additionally, General Michael E. Langley, the Commander of U.S. Africa Command, Honorable Enoh T. Ebong, the Director of the U.S.

Trade and Development Agency, and several other esteemed officials are part of the delegation.

The inauguration ceremony is expected to witness the presence of various world leaders, heads of state, past presidents, diplomats, and heads of international organizations.

Prior to the inauguration, former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, will deliver a lecture titled ‘Deepening Democracy for Integration and Development’ on Saturday, May 27.
