President Muhammadu Buhari is set to inaugurate seven landmark projects completed by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing across Nigeria.
The confirmation of this significant event was provided by Mr. Femi Adesina, the President’s spokesman, in a statement released on Monday in Abuja.
These projects align with the Buhari administration’s commitment to enhancing and expanding the country’s infrastructure.
The projects consist of three major bridges, three federal secretariats, and a road. The highlight of the inauguration ceremony will be the Second Niger Bridge, which was originally conceived in 2005.
Adesina mentioned that there was an unsuccessful attempt to commence the project through Public Private Partnership (PPP) in 2014. However, construction work began in 2016 with the utilization of the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF).
Among the other projects to be inaugurated by the President are the Loko-Oweto Bridge, connecting Benue to Nasarawa across River Benue, and the Ikom Bridge in Cross River.
Additionally, a completed section of the Kano-Kaduna Dual Carriage Expressway, spanning over 200 kilometers, will be unveiled. Furthermore, three new federal secretariats will be inaugurated.
The first federal secretariat, located in Awka, Anambra State, covers an area of 5.106 hectares. It was initially awarded on December 9, 2011, but was practically completed and taken over by the Ministry of Works and Housing on July 14, 2022.
This secretariat comprises 498 office spaces, a conference hall, four committee rooms, an exhibition hall, a banking hall, a post office, and a welcoming reception.
It also features lift facilities, ample parking spaces, well-designed drainage systems, a staff canteen, fire hydrants, and other essential facilities.
The second federal secretariat, situated in Gusau, Zamfara State, spans 7.5 hectares and was practically completed and taken over by the Ministry on November 30, 2022.
The third to be inaugurated is the Federal Secretariat Yenagoa, located in Bayelsa State, covering an area of 7.5 hectares. It was awarded on December 9, 2011, and completed by November 30, 2022.
