NBA scoring legend Carmelo Anthony retires after illustrious 19 season career

Carmelo Anthony, the ninth-highest scorer in NBA history, has officially retired from professional basketball after a remarkable 19-season career.

The 38-year-old made the announcement on social media, expressing his gratitude for the sport and his excitement about the future.

Anthony, a 10-time All-Star, amassed an impressive 28,289 points while playing for six different teams, including the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers.

In his retirement video, Anthony reminisced about his humble beginnings and the impact basketball had on his life. He emphasized that his legacy extends beyond the court and into the next generation, particularly through his son, Kiyan.

Anthony urged his son to pursue his dreams relentlessly and assured him of his unwavering support.

Drafted third overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, alongside stars like LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade, Anthony established himself as a prominent figure in the league.

His name will soon be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of legends like James, Abdul-Jabbar, Malone, Bryant, Jordan, Nowitzki, Chamberlain, and O’Neal.

Anthony’s basketball journey began in college, where he excelled as a one-and-done player at Syracuse University.

His freshman year was particularly remarkable, culminating in an NCAA National Championship victory and earning him the title of Most Outstanding Player in the tournament.
