A tragic incident occurred in the Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where an explosion caused by a gas cylinder claimed the lives of at least four individuals.
The explosion took place in a welder’s shop within the community, as reported by an eyewitness named Usman Muhamma during a phone conversation.
The aftermath of the explosion was described as devastating, with the victims’ bodies torn apart and scattered in the vicinity. The Nigerian Police Force arrived at the scene to remove the remains of the deceased.
Usman expressed deep sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the community’s existing challenges with insecurity due to banditry, which has now been compounded by this tragic explosion.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, confirmed the incident and clarified that it was unrelated to the security issues affecting the area. Instead, it was caused by an explosion from a gas cylinder in a local welder’s shop.
Abubakar added that three other individuals sustained injuries of varying degrees and were receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
Abubakar Danali, the Chairman of the Isa Local Government Area, also confirmed the incident but was unable to provide an exact count of casualties since he was out of town when the unfortunate event occurred.
The community remains in shock and mourning as they come to terms with the devastating loss caused by the explosion.
