Nigeria customs service bust: Seizure of goods worth N71.2 million in Kebbi state

The Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recently apprehended and paraded a 37-year-old man named Mustapha Aliyu, along with seized goods valued at N71.2 million.

The confiscated items included a Volvo truck loaded with 212 large sacks and 202 small sacks of donkey meat and skins, as well as two used Toyota Camry vehicles and two used Honda Jazz vehicles.

Additionally, 55 bales of second-hand clothes, 4,925 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 13 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 6.5 kegs of vegetable oil, a blue Volvo truck, a Toyota Corolla, and other items were seized.

According to Dr. Ben Oramalugo, the Comptroller of the Kebbi Command, the arrest was made based on a tipoff.

The command is committed to enhancing security measures to combat illegal activities and prevent the smuggling of contraband items.

Strict physical examinations will be conducted to deter the entry of prohibited goods. The total value of the seized items was calculated to be N71,287,056.
