Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, has taken action against 13 of its academic and non-academic staff members following allegations of various misconduct.
The university management has decided to dismiss these individuals based on the findings of the University Staff Disciplinary Committee, which found them guilty of offenses including falsified age, financial fraud, gross misconduct, extortion, and sexual harassment.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Asomwan Adagbonyin, shared this information while presenting the committee’s report to the Chairman, Engr. Andrew Olotu, and members of the AAU Special Intervention Team in Benin City.

Prof. Adagbonyin stated that the terminated staff members belonged to different departments such as the Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing Department, Engineering Department, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Political Science, and the former Director of the university’s farm.
The disciplinary committee ensured that the accused staff members were given a fair hearing, and it recommended that the criminal aspects of their offenses be reported to the appropriate security agencies.
Among those dismissed was a nursing science lecturer found guilty of extorting students and another lecturer implicated in a case of sexual harassment.
The victim in the harassment case has been protected and assigned to another lecturer for her studies.
Prof. Adagbonyin further disclosed that out of the 209 disciplinary cases received, 132 have been concluded by the University Staff Disciplinary Committee, while 77 cases are still pending resolution.
