Following the attack on a US convoy in Ogbaru, Anambra State, on May 16, 2023, officials from the United States Embassy have recently visited the Naval Base in Onitsha as a gesture of courtesy.

The attack, which occurred between 12:00 and 14:00 hours along the Atani/Osamela road, resulted in the ambush of a team of US Consulate officials and their police escorts by unidentified individuals.

During their visit, the US delegation expressed their gratitude to the naval personnel for their vital role in rescuing two embassy officials who had been reported missing in Ogbaru.

Leading the delegation was Mr. Jim Suor, the regional security officer from the US Consulate in Lagos.
