Lagos state government announces 11 day program for governor Sanwo-Olu’s second term inauguration

The Lagos State Government has unveiled an extensive 11-day program to celebrate the inauguration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for their second term in office.

The programs will be held across different parts of the state, with a particular focus on the five divisions of Lagos: Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe.

Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, shared the details of the program during a press conference at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Ikeja. The 11-day events are scheduled to take place from May 21 to June 4.

Omotoso highlighted the achievements of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration in fulfilling the promise of creating “A Greater Lagos.” This includes the delivery of impactful projects, social investments, and economic development throughout the state.

The official inauguration ceremony will occur on May 29, followed by Jummat and Church services simultaneously held across the five divisions on June 2 and June 4, respectively. Additionally, projects commissioning will take place in eight local government areas over three consecutive days from May 24 to May 26.

The program also features a range of events, including a Youth Carnival and Robotic competition involving People Living with Disability, a public lecture by Prof Adigun Agbaje, a book launch, photo exhibition, stage drama performance, Children’s Day activities, and a novelty match played simultaneously in all five divisions of Lagos.

On Day 10, there will be a cultural display at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena and an Inauguration Dinner at Eko Hotels and Suites.

Throughout the 11 days, various achievements of the Sanwo-Olu administration will be highlighted, such as the completion of numerous road projects, construction of bridges, teacher training programs, university initiatives, hospital projects, and advancements in technology, entertainment, and arts.

Omotoso emphasized that the governor’s administration prioritized the welfare of the people, successfully addressing challenges, and completing numerous projects.

The efforts made in transportation, including the Blue Line and Red Line rail projects, and the improved waterway transport system were also highlighted as significant achievements.
