Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has recognized the imperative of ending fuel subsidy, which costs the nation trillions of naira, highlighting that it primarily benefits the affluent individuals.
Speaking at the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) induction event in Abuja, he emphasized the need for an honest conversation and concrete actions to tackle the issue.

Sanwo-Olu pointed out the discrepancies in fuel prices across different regions of the country, underscoring the futility of self-deception.
He urged policymakers to devise effective solutions and provide relief where it is most needed.
While the responsibility lies with the federal government to determine the how and when, the governor expressed willingness to collaborate towards resolving the long-overdue matter.
