The Taraba State Police Command has verified an explosion at a popular drinking establishment in Jalingo, the capital city of Taraba State.
Abdullahi Usman, the spokesperson for the Police Command, stated that the specific details regarding the explosion were still unclear, but investigations were being conducted by the anti-bomb squad.
According to reports, the explosion, believed to have been caused by an improvised explosive device, happened around 9 pm at the Jika Drinking spot in Dorowa.
While some individuals sustained injuries, fortunately, there were no fatalities.
An eyewitness, Peace Danjuma, recounted the incident, stating that they were gathered at the Jika joint enjoying drinks when an explosion occurred beneath the chair they were sitting on.
The area quickly filled with smoke, causing everyone to flee for safety. Sadly, Danjuma’s friend suffered a broken leg as a result of the blast.
