Tragic crash claims eight lives in Bauchi

A fatal accident occurred in Kili village along the Darazo-Kari Road in Bauchi State, resulting in the loss of eight lives.

The incident, which took place around 12:02 am on Thursday, also left seven others with various injuries, as confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Yusuf Abdullahi, the Sector Commander of FRSC, provided details of the incident in the First Incident Report released to journalists.

The crash involved a grey Volkswagen Sharon Minibus with the license plate BCH 465 XA, which belonged to the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

Fifteen individuals, including four adult males, six adult females, two male children, and three female children, were onboard the commercial vehicle when the accident occurred.

The cause of the crash was identified as a tire burst, leading to the driver losing control of the steering.

The FRSC’s rescue team swiftly responded to the report and arrived at the scene within five minutes.

They evacuated the victims to Darazo General Hospital for medical attention and confirmation of their conditions.

Sadly, a medical doctor at the hospital confirmed the deaths of three adult males, two adult females, two male children, and one female child.

The injured individuals, including one adult male, four adult females, and two female children, were treated for fractures, bruises, and head injuries.
