The 14th high-level meeting between Portugal and Morocco took place in Lisbon on Friday, marking the first such meeting in five years.
The meeting brought together ministerial delegations from both countries and held significant importance, especially in light of the recent joint bid by Portugal, Spain, and Morocco to host the 2030 World Cup.
This bid is unprecedented as it includes countries from different continents.
Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch praised the strong ties between the two nations and emphasized the significance of the World Cup candidacy.
During the meeting, the prime ministers of Portugal and Morocco discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and signed agreements focusing on cooperation, environment, education, and science.

This high-level meeting, which had been absent in the past due to the pandemic, provided an opportunity to celebrate the bilateral relations between Portugal and Morocco.
Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa emphasized the importance of a mobility agreement for workers from both countries and expressed hope for its acceleration, along with the recognition of qualifications of citizens from both nations.
Additionally, in 2024, Portugal and Morocco will commemorate the 250th anniversary of their peace treaty, further highlighting the historical significance of their relationship.
