Bus crash in Nicaragua turns deadly as six passengers succumb to fatal bee stings. The incident occurred when the bus veered off the road and collided with a beehive, leading to a swarm of bees attacking the passengers.
The driver, Santos Herrera, experienced mechanical issues while driving on the El Caracol-La Rica route, resulting in the loss of control of the school bus in San Sebastián de Yalí.
The impact of the crash caused the bus to rupture several wooden boxes, releasing the African bees that were producing honey within the beehives.

Out of the 60 passengers on board, 45 were attacked by the killer bees, including Herrera himself. Rescue efforts were hindered due to the presence of the bees, leaving victims trapped.
Among the deceased were Eneyda Tórrez and her daughter, Andrea Carolina García, along with Kenia Soza, Dilcia Amparo, Santos Calderón, and Reyna Olivas.
The National Police’s transit unit has initiated an investigation into the accident.
