US returnee crushed to death by truck in Lagos

On May 5th, an unidentified middle-aged man was crushed by a truck along the Isheri-Igando Road in Lagos State, leading to his death.

According to an eyewitness, the accident occurred at around 7 p.m. when the man had just returned from a trip and asked his driver to stop close to the entrance of the estate where he lived.

The victim got out of the car to purchase some items opposite the estate when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the first lane.

He was standing on the median strip and about to cross the other side of the road when a truck coming from behind ran over him. The man died on the spot, and the truck driver fled the scene.

The eyewitness added that the deceased had returned from the United States to join his wife, who lived in the estate.

Another fatal accident occurred on May 7th along the same road, where a 10-year-old boy lost his life after a Sport Utility Vehicle crashed into a tricycle conveying a family of four.

The SUV driver was driving at a top speed before losing control, skidding across the median strip, and ramming into oncoming vehicles.

While the commercial buses were partially affected, the teenager died instantly on the tricycle, and other passengers were injured and taken to the hospital. Two other passengers died on May 8th.
