Joint security operatives have killed two suspected armed robbers who were terrorizing the Nkpor Community in Anambra State. Several others managed to escape with bullet wounds.
The Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, said security operatives on routine patrol intercepted a gang of four armed robbers in an unregistered black Lexus SUV, and engaged them in a gun battle.
During the shootout, two of the criminals were demobilized. Arms, ammunition, charms, and other incriminating items were recovered from the criminals.

The Anambra State Police Command has received credible information from residents in Anambra and is carrying out joint operations with the security forces, especially the vigilantes, to sustain and enhance safety in the state.
The joint operations yielded a positive outcome on May 7, 2023, at about 8:45 p.m., when the operatives intercepted the gang in Nkpor, Idemili North Council.
The security operatives recovered two locally made explosives, one AK-47 rifle, nine live 7.62 ammunition, four AK-47 magazines, charms, and other incriminating items.
In another operation, earlier on the same day, the police arrested a gang of armed robbers and vandals in the act, vandalizing a truck suspected to have been stolen at Azu Ogbunike in Oyi Local Council.

The suspects are currently being held and are providing information on other syndicate members that dispossess innocent drivers of their trucks before taking them to their hideout at Azu Ogbunike.
Investigation into both cases is ongoing, and further details will be communicated.
