Fire engulfs Nigerian air force base in Abuja, prompting emergency response

Buildings within the Nigerian Air Force Base located along Airport Road in the Federal Capital Territory were engulfed in flames on Wednesday morning, causing panic in the area.

The military base, situated next to the Nigerian Correctional Service National Headquarters, fell victim to a fire outbreak whose cause remains unknown at present.

Prompt action was taken by operatives from the Federal Fire Service, who swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the fire.

Amiola Adebayo, the Head of Operations for the FCT division of the Federal Fire Service, confirmed their active involvement and efforts to extinguish the fire completely.

During a telephone interview, Adebayo stated, “The fire gutted part of the NAF Base, and our men are here putting out the fire, and we’re working hard to completely quench the fire.

However, I can’t confirm the cause of the fire outbreak yet, but we’ll put out a statement once our findings are concluded.”

Further updates and information regarding the incident are expected to be released by the authorities once a comprehensive investigation has been carried out.
