The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has directed the immediate relocation of all aircraft parked at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The relocation is ahead of the presidential inauguration scheduled for May 29, 2023.
The move is aimed at enhancing the safety and security of the airport during the upcoming event.
Many of the aircraft parked at the GAT terminal in Abuja belong to wealthy Nigerians, companies, and airlines.
The relocation order was issued in a circular dated May 8, 2023, which was addressed to aircraft operators and signed by the Regional Manager of FAAN, Kabir Mohammed.

The circular stated that the presidential inauguration is a high-security event, and all aircraft parked at the GAT terminal would need to be temporarily relocated to alternate airports on or before May 22, 2023.
The CEO of Top Brass Aviation, Capt. Roland Iyayi, expressed concern that most of the aircraft parked at the GAT terminal in Abuja were not serviceable, and relocating them might prove difficult.
According to him, most of the aircraft parked there cannot fly, and if FAAN is asking for them to be moved, it suggests that there is something they know that is not being disclosed to the public.
