According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), a total of 1,730 Nigerians have been evacuated from Sudan, with the latest flight arriving from Port Sudan with 146 evacuees on Tarco Airline.
The flight landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 10:05 am. The NiDCOM reported that 129 nationals had arrived in the country on Monday, on the same airline.
The commission disclosed on its official Twitter handle that a total of 1,600 evacuees had arrived so far, with the latest arrival.
In addition, the commission’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, provided further updates on the status of the returnees.

He revealed that 102 evacuees boarded the NAF C130 on May 3, while 274 boarded Air Peace from Aswan Airport. On May 5, 130 Nigerians boarded Tarco Airline, and on Saturday, May 7, 131 individuals boarded the same airline from Port Sudan.
Furthermore, on Sunday, May 8, 102 people boarded Tarco Airline from Port Sudan, and on the same day, 410 Nigerians boarded Max Air, and 322 boarded Azman Air, both from Aswan Airport.
NiDCOM Chairman, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, stated that Air Peace has been granted a landing permit to convey all Nigerians from Sudan, and expressed her desire for parents to send in pictures of their reunited children once they return.

She added that everyone would return, and Nigeria would celebrate their full return, despite the anxious moments they faced.
She also commended Nigeria’s efforts, stating that no country has done as much as Nigeria for its citizens during these trying times.
