According to reports, WhatsApp is launching its payments feature within a chat in Singapore after rolling out the service in India and Brazil.
The messaging platform has partnered with Stripe, a digital payment company, to provide the service in Singapore.
The in-app payments can be made using credit cards, debit cards, or Singapore’s PayNow fund transfer system, and the feature is available online and offline.
At present, the service is only available to a few businesses, but Meta plans to expand its availability to more merchants over the coming months.

Businesses can set up the feature via WhatsApp Business, which will guide them through the process of getting a Stripe account.
The service is expected to provide speed and convenience to customers, thereby expanding businesses’ revenue streams with new channels and a wider customer base.
The WhatsApp payments feature was first launched in India in test mode in 2020, and it recently rolled out merchant payments in Brazil after allowing peer-to-peer payments for about three years.
