Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City, is set to visit Nigeria on Sunday as part of his Africa tour, according to the Nigerian Consul-General in New York, Amb. Lot Egopija.
During his two-day visit, Adams will attend a meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and also meet with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the business community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In addition, he will be visiting the FCT’s Minister to establish a sister-city relationship between Abuja and New York. This agreement aims to promote cultural and commercial ties between the two cities and covers areas such as education, fire service, medical support, and social services.

Egopija had previously briefed Adams, at a meeting of African Consuls-General, on the potential areas of interest for the sister-city relationship between Abuja and New York.
The Nigerian Consul-General hopes that the partnership will not only strengthen ties between the two cities but also create opportunities for cultural exchange and promote the Seki Dance troupe, which has similarities to America’s Tap dance and is said to originate from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
