Buhari urges support for Adeleke following supreme court ruling

Muhammadu Buhari has called for support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke after the Supreme Court upheld his victory in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

The ruling was against the appeal filed by a former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and confirmed the victory of Governor Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Buhari urged all hands to be on deck to give Governor Adeleke the needed support to govern the state.

He called for inclusion and harmony in the state, saying that the main task is to make the people feel the impact of good governance that guarantees a prosperous, peaceful, and stable Osun State.

The President added that elections should be seen as a means to an end, which is the progress of the people in a peaceful environment, rather than unending bickering.

Buhari further said that with the final decision by the Supreme Court on the Osun State governorship election, it is time to provide the Adeleke administration with all the support needed to implement programs, policies, and plans aimed at making Osun flourish and succeed.

President Buhari’s call for support for Governor Adeleke came after the five-man panel of the Supreme Court held that the Court of Appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor, nullifying the judgment of the election tribunal.

The decision has put an end to the litigation, and the focus is now on governance and providing the people with the dividends of democracy.
