17-year-old arrested for allegedly stabbing Katsina phone dealer to death

17-year-old Abdulrahman Ibrahim has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly killing a man after stealing his phone.

The incident occurred in Katsina State, where Ibrahim was among 74 suspects paraded by the police. Also paraded was a 20-year-old man identified as Buhari Dahiru, described as a serial rapist.

The teenager was arrested on April 21, 2023, shortly after he lured a phone dealer to the Modoji area of the town, where he attacked and killed him with a knife on his neck.

Ibrahim told journalists in the Hausa language that he killed the victim “in self-defence” after he wanted to kill him and wounded him in the hand.

Meanwhile, Dahiru of Sabon Garin, Daura, was arrested after he broke into the house of one Murtala Abdullahi in Daura, attacked his pregnant wife with a knife, and attempted to rape her.

The police added that Dahiru had also attacked, robbed, and raped two housewives in Daura. A total of 74 suspects were paraded on Monday for various offences, including being informants to bandits, dealing in hard drugs, phone snatching, and prostitution.

The suspects were arrested during recent police raids of some black spots in different parts of the state.
