Northern Governors’ power shift to the South led to Tinubu’s emergence as President-elect – Gov Lalong

Simon Bako Lalong, Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State, has attributed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s election as President-elect to the power shift made to the Southern part of Nigeria by the Northern Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the 9th Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture on Leadership and Good Governance, Lalong noted that the power shift was aimed at promoting the unity, peace, and stability of Nigeria, in line with the spirit of fairness, equity, and justice that the late Premier of the Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, stood for.

Lalong further explained that the late Sardauna was known for his life of accommodation, tolerance, justice, and fairness, and his legacies continue to inspire leadership in the region and the country at large.

He urged all Nigerians, both in the North and across the country, to support President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he takes on the mantle of leadership.

According to Lalong, the Northern region requires serious attention in various sectors, including security, education, infrastructure, agriculture, economic revival, and restoration of law and order in areas that have been affected by insecurity.

He stated that the Northern Governors Forum, under his leadership, has worked towards bringing people together as one with a common destiny.
