The National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party may not happen anytime soon due to uncertainties surrounding the party’s performance report in the 2023 election. The party’s suspended National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, was ousted, and Umar Damagum replaced him in an interim capacity.
The party’s leadership was planning to hold a NEC meeting to plan a way forward. However, the uncertainty surrounding the PDP’s challenge of the February 25 presidential election and Ayu’s suspension appeal at the Makurdi High Court has left party leaders, particularly NEC members, waiting for Damagum to convene a meeting to inform them of recent developments and the way forward.

The National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, stated that the Damagum-led NWC was waiting for a performance report of the party in the 2023 election from the Presidential Campaign Council before calling for a NEC meeting. However, two members of the PCC said they were not aware of such a report.
