Texas authorities hunt for gunman who killed five including child

A mass shooting took place in Texas, in which five people, including an eight-year-old child, were killed. The police are searching for a gunman who was reportedly shooting his AR-15 style gun in a neighbouring yard when the victims asked him to stop, as they were trying to get a baby to sleep.

The shooter apparently ignored the request and went on a shooting spree, killing five people, including the child. The victims, aged from eight to 40 years old, were found lying throughout the house. Two women were discovered in an inside bedroom lying on top of two children who survived the massacre.

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers called the scene “horrifying” and noted that all of the victims had been shot “from the neck up almost execution-style, basically in the head.” The shooter, who is believed to be from Mexico, has reportedly left the county, and residents are being asked to stay indoors until he is apprehended.

The incident is the latest in a series of mass shootings that have occurred in the United States, renewing calls for stricter gun control measures. The tragedy is a stark reminder of the urgent need for comprehensive measures to prevent such heinous crimes from happening again in the future.
