Sudanese rivals agree to a 72-hour ceasefire

US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, announced that Sudan’s warring generals have agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire that began on Tuesday. This followed several failed attempts to pause the conflict.

Blinken revealed that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have agreed to implement a nationwide ceasefire starting at midnight on April 24th. The ceasefire aims to prevent deadly violence in Sudan where the conflict between rival generals has escalated. Blinken urged the SAF and RSF to uphold the ceasefire during this period.
