During the ninth and final Sallah homage in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari asked for forgiveness from anyone he might have hurt in the course of his duties and thanked Nigerians for tolerating him over the last seven and a half years of his administration.

He also expressed gratitude to God for giving him the opportunity to serve as the President of Nigeria after serving as a Governor and a Minister. President Buhari said that he has deliberately chosen to retire to his hometown and appreciated the love shown to him by Nigerians.
He acknowledged that being human, he might have hurt some people, and requested that those who feel hurt by his actions should pardon him. He also requested those who think he has hurt them too much to forgive him.
