During the Under 20 World Cup competition draw held in Zurich, Switzerland, on Friday, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria were placed in Group D and will face Italy, Brazil, and Dominican Republic in the tournament scheduled from May 10 to June 11, 2023. Nigeria secured their place in the competition by winning the bronze medal at the U-20 AFCON earlier this year.
The Flying Eagles previously reached the finals in 1989 and 2005, but lost 2-1 to Argentina in the latter. Nigeria aims to win the competition and become the second African country to do so after Ghana.

The host country, Argentina, will play against Uzbekistan, Guatemala, and New Zealand in Group A, while Senegal will face Japan, Israel, and Colombia in Group C, and the USA, Ecuador, Fiji, and Slovakia will compete in Group B. Uruguay, Iraq, England, and Tunisia make up Group E, while France, Korean Republic, The Gambia, and Honduras will meet in Group F.
